Add a widget on iPhone
- Make a design in Widgie and tap Save.
- Touch and hold an empty spot on the Home Screen until the apps jiggle, then tap Edit and Add Widget.
- Search for Widgie, choose a widget type (Countdown, Festivals, Panchang, Photo…) and a size, then tap Add Widget.
- Touch and hold the new widget, choose Edit Widget, and pick your design.
Lock Screen: touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customise, then Lock Screen, tap the widget area under the clock and choose Widgie. StandBy: charge your iPhone on its side while it is locked and swipe left to see widgets.
Add a widget on Android
- In the Widgie editor, tap Add to home screen, or
- touch and hold the home screen, tap Widgets, find Widgie and drag a widget onto the screen, then pick the design it shows.
My widget is not updating
- Open Widgie once: it refreshes the panchang and festival data the widgets read.
- Phones limit how often widgets refresh to save battery. Countdowns, festivals and the panchang change at midnight and sunrise; the clock and checkboxes update right away.
- On Android, battery saver apps can stop widget updates. Allow Widgie to run in the background in your phone's battery settings.
Why is a festival date different from my calendar?
Indian festivals follow the lunar calendar, and regions and traditions can observe them on different days (for example Janmashtami, Holi or Eid, which depends on the moon being sighted). Widgie uses published sources for your region and checks them against its own panchang. Choose your region in Settings. Dates marked "may change with the moon sighting" are tentative.
Why do tithi times differ by a few minutes?
Widgie calculates the panchang on your phone for the city you choose. Almanacs use slightly different methods and places, so end times can differ by a minute or two. Pick the city nearest you in Settings.
Purnimanta or amanta?
North India usually names months from full moon to full moon (purnimanta); the south and west from new moon to new moon (amanta). The days are the same; only the month name in the second half of the month changes. Choose yours in Settings.
Photos and privacy
Photos you pick are copied, smaller, into Widgie's own storage for the widgets. "On this day" needs photo library access and searches only on your phone. Calendar events are read on your phone and never uploaded. See the privacy policy.
